Skim privacy policy
Applies to the Skim browser extension and skim.litekit.co. Effective 2026-10-20.
What Skim sends
When you click the Skim icon, the extension reads the visible text of
the page you are on, plus its title and URL, and sends it to
skim.litekit.co. That text is forwarded to DeepSeek,
which returns a summary. Nothing is read from a tab you have not
clicked on.
What is stored
- In your browser only: your extension token and up to 50 recent summaries, in the extension's local storage. Clearing them is done by removing the extension or the token in its options.
- On the server: a SHA-256 hash of your token, the time it was created, and the identifier of your Litekit account. Page text, page URLs, page titles, and summaries are never written to server storage or logs.
- In Litekit Billing: the number of summaries you used and their timestamps, to apply the free monthly allowance and any purchased credits.
- Litekit accounts: sign-in and token creation run through Clerk, which stores your email address and session.
Third parties
Page text is processed by DeepSeek to produce the summary, under DeepSeek's own API terms. Hosting, storage, and usage metering run on Cloudflare. Litekit does not sell data, run advertising, or use analytics or tracking in the extension.
Your controls
- Remove or replace the token in the extension options at any time.
- Revoke the token at skim.litekit.co; the old token stops working immediately.
- Uninstalling the extension deletes its local storage.
